2011 Honda Classic Picks

Honda Classic Picks:
Pick 1: Ben Crane E/W @ 28/1 (general) (VOID - Non runner) Crane has a standout recent record at the Honda classic and it's very much horses for courses @ the PGA National Championship track, ranked as 1 of the most difficult on the PGA golf tour each year, outside the majors. Looking at this week's Honda Classic for top all round players and Crane fits the bill. Must be high in confidence after demolishing Mcilroy last week.

Pick 2: Robert Allenby E/W @ 33/1 (general) Another with a top notch record at the Honda classic and signs of Allenby hitting form this year. Fantastic tee to green game to cope with the difficult lay out. As always with Allenby, it's how the short stick holds up and if it's on, he will be right up there.

Pick 3: YE Yang E/W @ 45/1 (Totesport) Previous winner of the Honda classic, course obviously fits his eye and in fine form at the WGC last week. Expect him to hold his nerve if in contention after 3 rounds. A man for the higher profile events like the Honda.

Pick 4: Freddie Jacobsen E/W @ 66/1 (general) Top 10 here in 2 of the last 3 years and coming off a top 20 at the Mayakoba. Overpriced and E/W value @ 66's. Fantastic putter and good scrambling skills will be needed this week at the Honda Classic.

Sleeper Picks:
Pick 5: Stewart Cink E/W @ 80/1 (SB) (VOID - Non Runner) On form at the WGC last week and a man who likes the big events, quality fields and thrives in tough conditions which he showed when winning the British Open. Top quality player when he plays for a few weeks running. Massive price.

Pick 6: Jason Dufner E/W @ 100/1 (Bet365) A notable when looking down the past Honda Classic leaderboards and has been in decent form this season. Good ball striker and could be 1 to keep an eye on this week.

What is expected Strokes Gained Course Fit ?

Bryan pioneered the concept of Expected Strokes Gained Course Fit (xSGF) in golf betting. xSGF can be predicted using my model below. For prospective golf betting tips it projects ahead of time how many shots a player is expected to pick up per round on average on a particular golf course. It's weighed against a neutral golf course of the same rating.

Golf Betting Tips Model

Input up to date player and course data (from the upcoming course fit manual 2024) into this interactive golf betting model. My course fit profiling model for golf betting tips uses highly evolved golf nuance and betting intuition, precise parameters and inputs based on Bayesian analysis, plus years of empirical evidence through observing, betting and documenting golf and stats.

What is Progressive Form in Golf Betting?

Progressive form in golf betting differs from current form in that players are showing a trend in the right direction in their recent scoring. Trending form has a high predictive value in golf betting and can also catch players under the radar at an inflated price vs their true betting odds.
