PGA tour Betting - Wyndham Championship Picks
As mentioned, for many players at this week's Wyndham Championship it's a massive PGA Tour event. The playoffs is a must for anyone dreaming for the biggest golf honours and there are some big names struggling to secure a place such as Sergio Garcia who currently sits 115th of the 125 places available.
This weeks Wyndham Championship will be played for the second year in a row at Sedgefield C.C in Greensboro, North Carolina which automatically throws a couple of picks at you in the shape of N.C residents Carl Pettersson(defending champion and course record holder) and Tim Clark. Both know the course like the back of their hand and that's the reason why they occupy 2 of my 4 picks this weekend, as well as the fact that the course also suits them down to the ground that is.
Sedgefield C.C plays 7127 yards long but the firm conditions make it play shorter(usually). Conditions are usually calm in amongst the treelined track. While treelined, the fairways are quite generous and the rough is usually down which gives big hitters who can control their shots an advantage so step up Lucas Glover. I can't be having him at 20's though, instead I'll be plumping for a very similar player in Davis Love III.
Most of the greens are severely undulating and slop significantly from back to front and there are roll off collection areas on most so accurate iron play is a premium(Tim Clark, step up). Accuracy is also needed off the tee to give yourself the best opportunity of attacking the pins. There are 12 meandering creeks and 1 pond around the course.
The course is one of the easiest on tour (44/54 on tour last year) and scoring low so players will need to shoot a lot of birdies if they are to triumph in the Wyndham Championship

- 1pt E/W Tim clark @ 25/1 Void - Local boy Tim Clark has the perfect game for this course as well as a vast knowledge of it's intricacies. Good performance here last year and in the midst of some good current form.
Book:
- 1pt E/W David Toms @ 25/1 -In the same mould as Clark, Tom's is fantastic at putting the ball in position off the tee and is also 1 of the best on tour at putting inside 10 feet so expect a lot of birdies from Toms, who's also in good current form.
Book:
-0.75pts E/W Davis Love @ 45/1 - As mentioned, big hitter and smart player, Davis is seriously overpriced and flying under most people's radar this week but not mine.He is actually on the drift so may be availablt @ 50's closer to thursday morning
Book:
-0.5pts E/W Carl Pettersson @ 90/1 -You might say Petterson actually owns this course and you wouldn't be far off but unfortunately the defending champion hasn't been in any real form this year albeit showed glimpses of his old sense 2 weeks ago. Basically you can't ignore Pettersson at this price on this course(get on fast, it won't last!)
Book:
-0.5pts E/WJeev Milkha singh 2nd round leader @ 80/1 - monster price for a man who is 1 of the best players in the field. His recent for is deceptive as he is returning from injury. Notoriously fast starter and with a few weeks practise under his belt, don't be surprised to see Singh fly out of the traps on a course like this
Book:
Sleeper watch
-2.5pts
Kevin Sutherland Top 20 finish @ 11/4 (paddypower) Tend sto do well towards the back of the season and off the back of a good performance last week, won't be afraid if he gets in position
-2ptsJonathan Byrd top 10 finish @ 11/2(bet365) Byrd was up and down like a yoyo in Reno but made an awful lot of birdies. With a lot less trouble this week, more of the same could see him challenge. 2nd in total driving and 6th in birdie average on the PGA tour.
-2.5pts Jeev Milkha Singh Top 20 finish @ 11/2(skybet) Back from injury and starting to get abit of form will be out to impress Greg Norman this week and the course could really suit.
-2.5pts Chris Riley Top 20 finish @ 10/3(paddypower) Top putter when in full flow, as he was last time out in Reno. More of the same and he will feature.(shot -9 for 9 holes in 1 round in Reno)
